Medical

The snapping of bones, the rending of flesh and the irradiation of the body: all these things can be treated, or even cured, through the miracles of twenty-third century medicine. This is a good thing considering the horrors of space.

Medical Services

First aid can be applied easily enough in the field, but surgery typically requires large and expensive facilities, not to mention a skilled surgeon.

Minor Surgery 200¤ Uncommon
Major Surgery 1000¤ Uncommon
Regrowth Therapy 2000¤ Rare

Minor Surgery: Suffering from a simple bone fracture, minor organ damage or moderate tissue damage? A variety of minor surgeries may be able to help you! This is required to remove some lasting consequences, including many on the Grave Wounds table (see page xxx). For full rules on surgery, see page xxx.

Major Surgery: Minor surgery not enough for your wounds? Major surgery may be just what the doctor ordered! This is capable of removing even more potent lasting consequences, including many of the worst Grave Wounds (see page xxx). For full rules on surgery, see page xxx.

Regrowth Therapy: Need a new arm, leg or bodily organ? Look no further! Lost limbs, digits, eyes and many other organs can be regrown, but this is expensive, takes time and requires frequent visits to the doctor to apply the next stage of the therapy. Limbs in the process of regrowth typically are tender and itch fiercely. For full rules on surgery and regrowth therapy, see page xxx.

Medical Equipment

A variety of medical gear is commonly available in the twenty-third century. This equipment ranges from replacement limbs, to the tools of the physician’s trade.

Medikit 100¤ Common
Surgery Kit 2,000¤ Rare

Disposable Test Kit: Have a specific condition that needs testing? That calls for a disposable test kit. This kit tests for a specific disease, toxin, drug or medical condition, such as sleep deprivation or pregnancy. It is typically administered through either drawing blood or through a urine sample. Results usually take a minute or two.

Medikit: Treat nagging injuries on the go! Counts as basic medical tools when applying first aid or as improvised tools if conducting minor surgery. Contains 10 uses.

Surgery Kit: Not all injuries happen within easy reach of a hospital or medical bay. For unexpected injuries in the remote reaches of space, there’s the portable surgery kit. With a portable pack of surgeon’s tools, diagnostic gear, cheap anesthetics and antibiotics, this kit counts as sufficient tools for minor surgery or improvised tools for major surgery. Contains 10 uses.

Medicinal Drugs

Drugs see use throughout the Sol system in diverse areas, including medicine, recreation and paramilitary endeavors. They are used to treat medical conditions, to aid in combat and to hinder one’s enemies.

The onset time of all drugs listed below assume they are injected directly into the bloodstream. Oral forms of most of these drugs are available, but have an extra half hour before they take effect. Some may be available in the form of patches, which take an additional minute to take effect. Finally, aerosol versions may be available. These have the same onset time as the injected versions, but require 10 times the dosage because they are less efficiently administered.

Its protection lasts for 8 hours. Upon administration, however, the recipient gains 1d10 minus Endurance fatigue. Pack of 10 doses.

Reganasone: Get better faster with Regenasone! If administered during a day of rest and recovery, a dose of Regenasone speeds healing. That night, reduce all Wound consequences by 1d10 instead of the usual one. However, the patient also becomes lethargic; she gains 1d10 fatigue. Pack of 10 doses.

Somnitol: Prescribed for even the toughest insomnia, Somnitol will put you to sleep. If injected, Somnitol will put the recipient into a deep sleep in a number of rounds equal to her Endurance. Once asleep, she will remain unconscious for the next 8 hours unless awakened through a stimulant or by other chemical means. Pack of 10 doses.

Stimulox: Recommended by doctors system-wide! Use of this drug instantly awakens an unconscious individual, granting a ⊕ to Strength-, Dexterity- and Speed-based tests for the next 10 minutes. After this effect wears off, the recipient gains 1d10 fatigue. Pack of 10 doses.

Torpestat: Be the boss of pain. Don’t let pain be the boss of you! A powerful pain-killer, once injected its effects last for 8 hours. During this time, the recipient does not suffer any penalties imposed by the Wound or Grave Wound consequences. The downside is that the drug also leaves her numb, imposing a ⊖ on all Dexterity- and Speed-based tests, as well as to any Perception-based tests relying on her sense of touch. Pack of 10 doses.

Verazine: When the perp won’t talk, try Verazine! A psychoactive drug used in interrogations and for even less savory purposes. It causes the recipient to enter a hazy, dream-like state, becoming talkative and losing her internal filters. Injected directly into the bloodstream, Verazine takes about a minute to set in. Then, for the next 10 minutes, the recipient suffers ⊖⊖ on all tests made to deceive or to avoid simple mental trickery. Pack of 10 doses.
